Hey you Madhouse Minions, my name’s Gina and Mandy Q has graciously allowed me to be a guest blogger on her site and get “my feet wet” so to speak.

A few weeks ago, Mandy, her PIC & I were having a few drinks and getting giggly.  Well I tried to say “Sugar Plum Fairy” and out of my mouth came “Sugar F@#%k Fairy”.  It escalated from there and with Mandy Q and the PIC’s encouragement; I bought a domain and am currently working on getting my own website and blog up and running (with her PICs help).  As practice, Mandy Q said, “be a guest blogger on Madhouse,” so here I am…

And since Mandy Q’s Creations is about food, my little blog snippet will be about an edible creation I saw on Pinterest. ☺

Mandy Q is a wiz in the kitchen and can come up with all sorts of edible delights, me not so much.  BUT I can rock the hell out of a recipe if I follow the directions exactly.  Browsing Pinterest one day, I came across a strawberry shortcake dessert recipe that used a glazed donut.  Seeing glazed donut, my eyes lit up because a good, plain glazed donut is freaking awesome.  So the plan was set to try this recipe.

I made Mandy Q get up before the butt crack of dawn so she could go with me to the Donut Corral to buy plain glazed donuts.  The place opens at 4:30am, I think we arrived a little before 5:00am.  Now why would we get up that early, simply to buy donuts – well these donuts are the freaking bomb!  OMG, the maple bars melt in your mouth – no joke.  So if I’m going to take the time to make an absolutely de-lish dessert, I’m going to use good ingredients; plus the Donut Corral is so freaking good, they sell out before their doors close at 1:pm.  We bought a dozen glazed donuts, a bunch of maple bars (remember, melt in your mouth goodness) and a bunch of other flavors I don’t remember.  Operation Strawberry Shortcake was set in motion.

That night, I made dinner for Mandy Q and family but the real spotlight would be dessert.  When the time came, I cut the donut in half, added the whip cream, a boatload of chopped strawberries and placed the top of the donut back on top.  Here’s a pic

It was so tasty, totally hit my sweet tooth and easy peasy to make.  Now it was fine as it was, but I should have added a strawberry glaze on top to make it even more wonderful.  With that being said, everyone freaking gobbled this plate of goodness up – adults, teens and little one.  I guess you could say I had a hit on my hands.

Next up to try is a blueberry plain donut with homemade lemon ice cream and a blueberry jalapeno glaze – I’m salivating just thinking about that.  Thanks to Mandy Q for letting me try my hand at blogging – love you cuz
