Confession #1:
My name is Mandy & I am addicted to books. Old, smelly books…hard cover books with yellowish brown paper…the ones that when you open them you find the names of previous owners written in cursive on the top right hand corner of the first page… old cookbooks, old romance novels, old history books-I love them all. So this past weekend when my Partner In Crime and I had a little time to kill after making morning deliveries and waiting for our lunch order to be ready for pick up we went and wondered around Main Street in Old Yuma and stumbled into a used bookstore. A glorious, old bookstore. The kind that has books stacked up high, little rooms within rooms & shelves that keep going further and further back till you wonder how big this place actually is. Confession #2:
My name is Mandy and I love macaroni and cheese. Fortunately for me I have a good friend who makes the most amazing macaroni and cheese in Yuma. Not only does she make the most the best mac & cheese, she also grills some glorious ribs and jerk chicken. Did I mention she also makes pulled pork? It’s bleeping awesome. My boys and I once sat in our car and ate a pound of her pulled pork with just our fingers. We had no shame-it was that good. Victoria has a small business called HealthySoul Spot (you can find her on Facebook-go like her page!). So this past Friday after leaving my beloved bookstore, the PIC and I headed over to Victoria’s place to pick up our orders. We were in foodie heaven (followed by foodie coma). This woman-has found her calling…she has taken her passion for cooking and used it to start a small business to support her family. I have a lot of love for Victoria-we both have a similar background when it comes to starting our small businesses-single moms with kids to take care of, hustling & doing what needs to be done in order to meet our family’s needs. Victoria is an amazing Mom of three boys. When she is not grilling (or making some amazing mac & cheese) you can find her out coaching her boys’ soccer team or cheering them on at their football games.
